A sparkler experiment

November 30, 2017

Long exposure photography has always fascinated me. The first time I saw a photo taken using a long exposure - the trains of light dancing across the image completely mesmerised me. I had two thoughts: firstly, how did they do that?! and secondly, can I do it?!

So, I headed to google, educated myself on the do's, dont's and camera settings of long exposure photography and gave it a shot.

Here's a throwback to 2012 - little me aged 17, in my messy room with torch and my camera.

It did take me an hour to get these two shots, however through a lot of trial and error but I have to say, I was pretty pleased with the outcome in the end!

When all the firework photographs appeared over Bonfire Night at the start of the month I was reminded just how pretty sparkler and long exposure photography was - I wanted to give it a go with a couple.

Mae and Matty are two of my old school friends, who have been together for what seems like forever (I can remember Matty telling me he had a crush on a beautiful brunette when we were about 14)! Their relationship has blossomed over the years and it was wonderful to see them both all 'grown up', yet still just as loved up as they were 7 years ago.

Here are the photos we shot... enjoy!
